How much water should you drink?
Several recommendations exist pertaining to hydration status. How much should you drink for athletic performance and health? 🍎
There are 3 main ways I usually answer this question. 💭
How much water should you drink?
💧 Drink 1/3rd of your body weight in water. Times your body weight in kg x 0.0333. If you weigh 80 kg that’s 2.7 l/day.
💧 Drink 1.5 x the amount of water you lose in sweat from the sport. Weigh yourself pre and post-game to determine sweat lost.
💧 Drink when you’re thirsty. Your hypothalamus regulates thirst in your body. Chances are you’ll drink when you need to.
Though, some people confuse these cues with hunger and eat rather than drink. 😕
